Filmová adaptace románu Jane Austenové nás přivádí do Anglie 18. století. Fanny Priceová (Frances OConnor) opouští ve dvanácti letech chudý domov a odchází ke své tetě na panství Mansfield Park. Tam, uprostřed nádherné anglické krajiny, vyrůstá u Sira Thomase Bertrama (Harold Pinter) s jeho dětmi - dvěma dcerami a synem Edmundem (Johny Lee Miller). Na zámku, v okouzlujícím, avšak pevnými společenskými pravidly se řídícím prostředí, dospívá Fanny v krásnou a vzdělanou mladou dámu. Život v Mansfield Park a mnohdy neupřímné, hrané vztahy mezi jeho obyvateli…
