Katastrofa během ranního koupání v moři. Sarah, svobodná matka dvou dospívajících dětí, zmizí pod hladinou vln. Záhada jejího zmizení je katalyzátorem, který vrhne její rozvrácenou rodinu znovu dohromady. Její sourozenci Ursula, Den a Claire se nejprve obávají, že zmizení jejich rozhárané sestry může být její poslední kousek. Po příjezdu domů ale zjistí, že zbourala půlku domu. Problém je, že je to i jejich dům. Dům plný dětského smíchu a strašidelných vzpomínek, které se začnou rozplývat, když se pustí do života v ruinách a snaží se vychovávat dvě děti, které zoufale doufají, že se jejich máma vrátí.
