Války se v dějinách lidstva vždy začínali kvůli touze po moci, po jiných územích, po ovládnutí jiných národů. Historicky poslední apokalypsou lidstva byla Druhá světová válka, která si vyžádala 50 milionů obětí, většinou civilistů. Její zárodky se zrodily již v roce 1919 podepsáním Versailleské mírové smlouvy, která připravila Německo o armádu i území. S tímto ponížením se neuměl smířit bývalý voják Adolf Hitler.
