Audre Lorde, de zeer invloedrijke, bekroonde Afro-Amerikaanse lesbische dichteres, kwam in de jaren tachtig en begin jaren negentig in West-Berlijn wonen. Zij was de mentor en katalysator die de Afro-Duitse beweging hielp ontsteken, terwijl ze blanke vrouwen uitdaagde om hun privileges te erkennen en constructief te gebruiken. Met haar actieve steun gaf een hele generatie schrijvers en dichters voor het eerst een stem aan hun unieke ervaring als gekleurde mensen in Duitsland. Deze documentaire bevat niet eerder uitgebracht audiovisueel materiaal uit de archieven van regisseur Dagmar Schultz, waaronder verbluffende beelden van Audre Lorde buiten het podium. Met getuigenissen van Lorde's collega's en vrienden documenteert de film Lorde's blijvende erfenis in Duitsland en de impact van haar werk en persoonlijkheid.
